He is a visual artist. His works in video, photography, performance, installation, and objects embody simple gestures that bring about larger ramifications to bring visibility to issues of immigration, racism, and colonialism. A wandering artist, his practice is rooted in the relationships he cultivates along his journeys, especially with invisible and oppressed people, challenging assumptions about national identity, cultural history, and human value, on the boundary between irony and frankness. His solo exhibitions include Algebra, Pinault Collection, Venice (2026); NAZARETHANA, Mendes Wood DM, São Paulo (2025); LUZIA, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2024); Esconjuro, Inhotim, Brumadinho (2024); and The Journal, Institute for Contemporary Arts, London (2014). He has participated in group exhibitions such as Chosen Memories, MoMA, New York (2023); Histórias Brasileiras, MASP, São Paulo (2022); as well as the 34th São Paulo Biennial (2021) and the 56th Venice Biennale (2015). He lives and works throughout the world.
